A great initiative, indeed. I perceive that in a male-dominated Islamic society, we seriously need to empathize with the fairer sex. ”Shariat Nikaahnama”, if it is implemented, which i am not so sure about, would really facilitate a secure future for Muslim women .

As much as I’d like to differ with you mentioning the female gender as the ”fairer” sex, I would have to agree that the attempt is progressive. It is yet another amendment in an attempt to make Indian society an egalitarian one, the problem is not that of the bill becoming a law, the problem is a law becoming part of the conscience of denizens, but at least a start has been made in that direction.

This commendable initiative by the All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board could only be implemented if the All India Muslim Personal Board accepts it. The million Rupee question that now remains is will the male dominated Muslim Personal Law Board accept the recommendations? For how long could a ’secular’ country do without an uniform civil code?

This Nikahnama offers a lot of promises for Muslim women. there are so many of them living in pathelic circumstances, smothered by chauvinistic men who claim to be advocates of religion and tradition.
